Hoping to fit my nice new pressed plates when it goddamn stops raining.

Anyway, my question is:

The padding under the rear plate, did you guys leave it on, or remove it and stick the pressed plate directly to the tailgate? I assume the padding is there to stop it rattling off the metal of the boot?

And I'm guessing a metal plate will rattle alot more. But then obviously I'd be sticking the sticky pads to the padding material and I dunno how well that'll hold.

On the plus side, they look bitchin'.

Ok...So that would incinuate I should remove the 'padding' thing that's on the standard rear boot. Anyone done it? Anyone not done it? Is it likely to leave a big gooey mess when I remove it?

use a heat gun, wd40 and a credit card, you can get rid of any residue left,

So I guess you must have removed the foam spacery thing that's stuck under the standard number plate.

I would hope it won't rattle, the goddamn Halfords numberplate sticky things are so sticky it's a nightmare to get the damn backing off!

£19.99 off eBay. Free postage. There are some that come with a free fixing kit. Get that one, because I had to pay like £4 for the adhesive pads in Halfords. (Or like £1.80 off eBay).

They look awesome, very good quality.

Large velcro coins from halfrauds work brilliantly

Those sticky pads are crap and your plate will just fall off withing a few days.

These ones seem to be crazy strong. We'll see though I suppose! I'll keep my standard ones in the boot.

And I can't see why pressed plates should be illegal, some might be missing the BS kite mark, but I'd say that's quite petty.

I got legal ones from dubmeister with all the markings, paid £25 for them but that was show price at Ultimate Dubs, think they charge that per plate through the website and have to send away v5 etc.

On topic though i just whipped off the foamy shit on the boot.

I removed the foam from the boot lid with a heat gun, Burnt fingers later it was all gone.
To stick them down I used Industrial velcro from Halfords. When I had to remove them after getting a £60 fine, it bent the plates that the velcro was that strong

I didn't think mine were too bad, No point arguing with the police though. He was surprised to find out i'd been driving all over Manchester with them on for the last year.
