I hate this sort of comment.

Why should everthing have to compare to wanky Audi?

VAG Build quality isn't that good from my experience. 11 day old car from factory delivery shearing it's engine mount bolts causing it to drop 3" on one side anyone? That resulted in a smashed cam pulley, cut cambelt and a lunched engine.

Quality indeed.

Thats nice for you. You always get some duds no matter what make it is.

You cant really compare the quality and fit of the materials used between a Vauxhall and Audi. Its just a fact I'm afraid. I dont care if that sounds in anyway snobby or condescending either because I've been in enough of both makes to know its right.

Its ture i'm afraid, the build quality on my old 04 plate LCR puts my 06 plate VXR to shame.

I was completely baiting. But still thats only one car, I'm sorry to say it but they aren't really wanky and are mile ahead of anything Vauxhall has ever produced in the quality stakes.

No Joe. Read it again. That one example means every VAG is the same as that. Derrrrrr.

I'm not saying Vauxhalls are bad either. They are good cars.

Ojc says so.

But we've had several Audi's in our family and not one engine has dropped out, guess we must be lucky.

even if its got 300bhp it will probably weight about 250kg heavier! new cars are geting more and more power but just getting equally as heavy at the same time.

tbh, the build quality on all new cars is sub-standard. You wont see insignias and mk5/6 astras driving about having done the same milage/age as mk2 astras and cavaliers. Plus, they wont be anywhere near as easy to restore...as everything needs to be plugged in.

Im just really not a fan of the newer stuff, and as VXR has found with his g'box (and thats only one of many gearbox failures in mk5 astras i know of, VXR and otherwise), and comparing it to the F28 they also have.

They appear to be built by Renault (who do supply parts to vauxhall such as synchros ) and just arent designed to last.

MK2 astras and Cavaliers have been on the roads for years, of course they won't have done the same kind of mileage.

theres adifference between build quality and what people are talking about...

THe moment you step in a bmw it feels like it weighs 6tonnes and is solid as heck with all sufaces pleasing to not only the eye but the fingertip too.

Shiny plastics and cheap stuff just looks shit.

I love the vxr, but comparing it quality wise to a german marque is a waste of breath
