Hi I've never done this before... basically looking at getting another car next week.
My insurance runs out in September, can I just phone up and get car number two added on to the same policy for just the few remaining months? I don't want to simply change insurance over as I predict a few problems (it's a R5 GT Turbo I'm getting lol) and want to get them ironed out first. Alternatively, there is day insurance to concider regarding getting it home, but I haven't found a place in the past that actually covers modified cars!?

I have never found anywhere that will add a car unless your on a multi car policy.
They will just offer to start a new policy for you which will have zero ncb.

I was talking to a guy from Flux the other day and he said they were doing multi-car because they had to as the rest of the market was starting to do so.
So that situation of needing bonus to apply elsewhere may be improving.

Not sure if they've rolled it out completely.

I have a 2nd policy with Brentacre, who mirrored the NCB from the original policy

So I got another car on my policy no problem... £80 for 30 days. However, on the phone she said I can use it to purchase TAX, but I've just received the policy over email and it says:
Road Fund License (car tax): This Short Term Insurance certificate cannot be used for the purpose of obtaining a Road Fund License.
Firstly, what the fuck!? And secondly... why the fuck not!? Really don't see the problem, car is insured and has MOT
