Right. I have a private numberplate with 5 digits. Its the legal font etc, the only thing that is not legal is the fact that there is not a space where there should be.
Car is a standard Leon.
Should be - S* ***
However its spaced - S****
It's been on the car 4 months, but got pulled the other day and given a £60 fine. The officer said I have 28 days to pay the fine, but didn't say how long I have to get legal plates made.
I'm not sure whether to bother getting it changed. I'll happily pay the fine and will pay a fine again if I get one. However if I do get one again I'll get it changed then. Has anyone had anything worse given to them? Points? DVLA action etc?
I've heard you get 3 strikes before the DVLA take action.

I got pulled for my 3/4 plate and was charged £60. The bloke said that they are cracking down on numberplates and they had all been issued with guidelines on there spacing e.t.c.
I had my 3/4 plate on for over a year with out any problems until a few months back.
He said I would be reported to the DVLA and that if it happend more than 3 times they could remove my registration. Im guessing he ment that for personalised numberplates.

No they can remove any registration, meaning you could end up with a Q plate.
