I don't have a deposit for a place. I'm not one to get too wound up by it as we (maybe I) live in a different world to what we used to. When I finish in Birmingham and get a job elsewhere I'm still going to rent a place and only buy when I can put down a sizeable chunk as a deposit.

Don't get on your high horse Orrob, my comment was about posession. He doesnt own it, he (as you rightly say) rents it.

Lets leave this one here shall we? rather then starting the owning vs renting argument (because owning is better, and will always win )

it seems quite substantial, I can't see myself needing to stand on the bed. Bedroom activities which involve standing usually involve someone lying down and me standing on the floor

Thanks again all. I'm really happy with it still

Paul, I'm still a research student working on the needle project. I think I've bored you once before talking about it at a Guildford meet, I also do freelance industrial, graphic and web design. I'm exempt from council tax which is a lifesaver, the bills on top are electricity, water, telephone and Sky which come to approximately £100-£130 a month. There's no gas and I think I'll get away with not running the heating for most of the winter...

How come you're exempt from council tax if you don't mind?

Heating is usually alright when in a flat as you have people below you with it on and as hot air rises you're usually laughing.

Yep, only had to turn it on for about a week last winter in the old place - when I could see my breath in the morning I thought it was about time to turn it on

Council tax, I'm a student.

They're fine. Used to sit out on the balcony on the old ones for a whole day doing my work without my ass hurting. They're a bit slippery though and probably no good for old people.

I did buy them for how they looked, I don't think I even bothered sitting on them in the shop when I ordered them. I'm stupid like that
