After my girlfriend dropped me off at the station this morning, I noticed that when she had her foot on the brake and was indicating left at a junction, the brake and indicator light were both dim and flashing alternately. Once she took her foot off the brake the indicator flashed nirmally. I have also noticed that sometimes, when reversing or indicating, the rear fog light warning lamp on the dash comes on. Why is this happening? Could it be a dodgy earth somewhere? I've seen this on quite a few other cars.
I had the bulbholders out tonight and they all look ok. All wires look pristine. There is an earth strap nearby, it disappears into the boot side trim but looks fine too.
The reverse lights on both sides flicker too, but this only happens when indicating left and pressing the brake pedal. All other lights are unaffected. It really looks quite silly.
I'm really stuck - I know zero about electrics. Could it be a dodgy earth strap somewhere else in the car?

Hmm, the only things i could say are as you said, dodgy earth somewhere.. Or the bulbs arn't correct.. or their in the wrong way round. If that makes sense? Other then that, check the wiring for cuts/slits where other wires can interfere. You could have quite a fun job of finding a cut in a wire somewhere! haha.
