Effect the emissions of my X16xe as it failed its MOT today on its fast idle test and also on the second try.

The guy just said he recons it could be the lambada sensor or the cat which isnt really much help

How far out was it Ste? Might be worth putting some redex in it and giving it a damn good rag right before the test so its good and hot. Doing this brought mine down a bit. If you're close it might be enough to get you through

Mine took ages to past the emissions purely because it wasn't hot enough in the exhaust for the Cat to be working fully...

Is it possible this has happened here?

Possibly as the car was only used for about 10 mins prior to the MOT test being taken!

I'd ask the garage if you can take it out for a blast just before they do the emissions mate. Just so you can make sure its good and hot for when they do the test

Like I say give that a try along with some fuel cleaner. Its only about £15 a bottle from halfords so its worth a go before you fork out for a brand new cat etc.
