Does it say anything in the hand boook?
I know my CTR specificly had a warning to not fit one to it as it would kill the rear suspension.
Saw a mk1 focus rs with a tow bar this morning as it goes and it puzzled me
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

I think its due to the bumper styling of the cliosport.
I had a towbar on a 206 GTi and there were 2 different types of towbar. One towbar was for non-sport bumper and the other was for the sports bumper models.
I have a towbar on my GTi 180, use it for towing my motorbike, not a great towcar by any means but does the job, saves buying another car/van just for towing.

I wouldnt mind if i had to slightly modify the bumper to the the tow bar aslong as it all bolted on correctly and there is no difference to the way it bolts to the sport rather than annother model

Yep they all bolt up the same, but the towbar for the non sports bumpers on the 206 would fit a GTi/GTi 180, but would require the bumper to be trimmed.

Would be bumper/ground clearance/exhaust, even not having the holes in the chassis.
Not able to check the book as to why you cant find one for a 172 though.
