As above.Sold something online and the buyer said he can transfer the money from his account into mine.
Is this safe and if so,what details should he need??
I dont for 1 minute think its dodgy as he wants to call me to get the details rather than through email or a txt etc.But ive never done this sort of thing before so need some help.

Transferring 17,600 to your soliciters is a bit different to giving some1 ive never met or know my details.

I do it all the time, alot easier than paypal and cheques rather than waiting days to clear.
Only needs sort code and account number and name.

As said most they could do would be to start a direct debit, however you'd be covered under the direct debit guarentee

I do it alot it's a bit longer than using Paypal but saves on their ridiculous fees! Only do it on items worth a couple of hundred any less and I use Paypal.

No he can't you would need to confirm it for a start, your bank wouldn't set up any direct debits without your permission.

He can set up one...but would need an address to do so, which I assume he would get. You don't need to confirm DD, as banks assumes it's you setting them up in first place...

YOu normally need to go in to set a DD up, you couldn't do this without ID anyway. If it was that easy to set a DD up and scam people then every one would be at it, it's not as simple and straight forward as that.
