was AWESOME !
got there at like 2230 - thinking they were coming in at bout 0000-ish. Well it got to 2330, 2345, 0000, 0015 .....waiting in the -1*C cold - freezing , so then went in car, went back out, then went back in car, ....
then cut a long story short - we were still in car at 0200, falling asleep, then SCCRRREEEEEEEIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssssh as one of the beasts just appeared from nowhere and within seconds was already landed. , saw 5 from that angle
then drove to end of runway, where the road is, where the planes go start over the road - by the 7th one i was positioned directly underneath it, inline with its nose as it came in, - thought my ear drums were going to burst - screaming engines - didnt want to cover my ears tho and look like a wuss ,
sorry for bad grammar but im extremely tired and just boutto get into bed
and alos if this thread seems pointless to ne1, dunno, - well, the reason ive posted it is cos it was such a mad adrenaline rush , just had to get it out of my head onto paper
was pretty spectacular seeing em land, but even more spectacular when u think that theyve come straight from iraq after doing so much damage , and like what the whole world is talking about - and there they are! - right in front of you .

ohoh and look out for me on tv , walked past news cameras few times

used to go to a lot of arishows as a kid. (cosford, mildenhall, fairford etc), all those american planes are big bastards, especially the globetrotter. One of the loudest planes I have heard though is the harrier when its doing its vertical landing and manouvering display... bloody deafening.

bet that was fantastic id of loved to be there too. well worth sitin in freazin cold for. i stayed on a r.a.f camp in cyprus for a fortnight and saw the spy plane a few times and all sorts of stuff. spy plane landin is an amazin site to see too.

sorry, just checked back !
First, there was only a handful of people at the other end of the runway, then by 12 there must have been about a hundred. Then later on at the othe end of the runway, fortunately the right end where they came in - there were probly about, again, maybe hundred or so ppl.
Ears still hurt ! The vids my m8 took are quite dark, one of em's ok, but u still cant see much, u can see the lights, but unfortunately u cant see much more than that..
Ill put them up somewhere if ppl r still interested .
& Kerry - u say where was it - do u mean the base ? if so - Fairford , dunno what gate# it was or anything like that sorry

went and still go to airshows a bit, forget b52s, vulcan's are much louder in my opinion
