Recently Ive been noticing more and more rust appearing on the same spot on my car, the rear drivers side arch. A couple of months ago there was rust there at all! Maybe this is normal for an old car (1985)? The boot has let water in a couple of times but not for a while now. Its so annoying cos the rest of the car is clean.
So is this just one of the joys of owning an older car or is this a bit strange?

Think the whole arch has been replaced previously. I bought the car back in January but have done nothing to it myself.
EDIT: apart from replacing the damn cut springs

Bah its only a 5door nova lol
Catch it early, get a wire wheel on it, make sure it is just on the outside and not rusting from inside, best option is to cut it out really though.
longer you leave it, worse it will get
