When I was on the plane coming back from the USA some woman on the seat to my left was using a Kindle to read newspaper articles on it.
It's OK, but an iPad it ain't!

TBF, it's never tried to be even like an iPad, which is actually 3 times more expensive.
Plus trying to read books outside in the sunlight would be awful due to the reflections.

I'd prefer an actual book / newspaper than reading it on a "device"
your not alone 
however in the long run I do support these devices, save the trees, peace man.

These e-ink screens are supposed to be much more like proper paper so I'd be tempted to give one a go, though generally I do prefer paper too

i have an i-river story, pretty much the same thing.
i personally love it, the e-ink is fantastic and its so much easier having all my books on one device, not to mention the ease of downloading a PDF file and dragging it onto the device and reading it from there.
And its not meant to be an Ipad at all, not even in the slightest might aswell compare it to a pc if your doing that :/

Paper can be recycled and new trees planted.
Electricity is mainly produced from coal and makes the sky cry 
I'd rather go for the old school option.

They may very well be but for me personally I find reading massive amounts of text on a screen nauseating.
I suspect the next generation will call us idiots for reading physical books like a bunch of suckers.

you ever tried e-readers the ink on the screen is pretty much like looking at a paper book, almost indistinguishable between the two mediums.
