i've just found my old sky box, hasn't been used for the best part of two years. Am i right in thinking that I could still use it to get the freeview channels?

thanks

Yes, but you may need a new viewing card.

IIRC, it needs a satellite connection for that to work, not a normal house aerial.

Oddly enough it will need a sat connectiion considering it's a satelite receiver But as said, if you get a new viewing card it'll allow you to recieve a number of basic channels. And a one off fee of £120 (i think) will get you a load more channels.

Just get a freeview box for about £30? And save yourself all of the hassle?

Pretty sure your old card will work. You would only need a new card if you wanted special features like Sky+ etc.

If you already have the satelite its the easiest option.

I managed to get a few channels without any card in it at all, and after a bit of googling was told that any card that fits should get me the likes of channel 5 etc.

worked a treat, thanks again y'all

Has to be a new white card now. older ones won't work/won't work much longer.
