As above, my gf wants rid of her Mini because her insurance is up and fancys a change.
She's going to be looking to spend around £3000 once she sells the mini and keeps money for a years insurance etc.
I did suggest a Corsa C SRI & Corsa C SRI 1.7 CDTI.
She seems keen on a black 1.2 SXI but i'm put off the chain driven engines after my own experiences.
Will running costs of an SRI really be that much more ?
Any other suggestions ? Bearing in mind she's 18 with 1yrs NCB so reasonable insurance is needed.

The punto's are pretty quick for 1.2's (not far off 1.6 sports to 60 iirc. and you get 6 gears on the sportings

my mates 1.2 sxi is horrendous, you can hear it ticking when driving etc. 1.4 sri's are ok.
my mate at college had a punto sprting and it was shit, he hated it.
get a clio? im currently driving my gf's 1.2 authentiqueand i cant fault it, its modded slightly and cheap to run, nothing major has gone yet but needs new wheel bearings

tell her to look at pistonheads and find a car she likes the look of, then find what varients it came in to compare performance and insurance. Then she will have to find one within her price range.
or i could keep posting random £3k cars until she likes one

they are meant to be good little cars, the boss' daughter has one and the boss used to pinch it all the time instead of his DB9

My 1.2 SXI was brilliant. Bloody loved it. It was in Black Sapphire and looked lovely. I had it from new and drove it like I stole it and it never let me down.
I guess the 1.8 SRI will be too much to insure so maybe the 1.4 SRI will be better?
