every so often it does it after i have been driving for quite a while
it revs hard to 4k then after a minute it drops then starts bouncing in between 1k & 2k
and since i have bought it it idles 1k is this right?

would that cause the eml to come on when its doing it ? will check both above what you mentioned thanks am4nf

yes im 90% sure it will be your idle air control valve

well i cleaned the idle controll valve & couple of days later cars doing it again ..
when it happens the brake pedal goes rock hard & its like i have no brakes wouldnt mind sorting it till the other engine goes in
eml doesnt come on at 4k revs its as soon as the revs drop and bounce in between 1000 & 2000 thats when the eml comes on
will try and get a video of it

Sounds like an air leak to me if the pedal is going hard as the servo is vacuum'd off the inlet.
Check for split pipes, what engjne is it

a little 1L 12v .. only needs sorting for a week or 2 just while i gather parts for the 1.6 then that engine will be going in will check for split pipes & air leak in the morning cheers guys
