right i bought a sub the other day, jbl gt4 serious 1000w/250w

need a amp now

so this means the amp i need needs to be either 2 x 250w rms or more if its a 2 channel amp?
or if i get a 4 channel it needs to be 4 x 125w or more and put one channel to front speakers, one channel to 6x9s, and bridge two channels to give 2 lots of 1 x 125w rms and that would be okay?

also , would a sub that is 2 x 100w rms be okay bridged to the sub to give 200w rms, 50w rms lower than what the sub is. would that still work or would it damage the amp/sub or whatever ? cheers

What is the output from the 6x9's?

You'll need more than a 4 channel amp to run the speakers, 6x9's and sub bridged as stated above. Perhaps a mono block for the sub and a basic 2 channel for the speakers?

front speakers are 90w max/rms i dont know
6x9s are kenwood 450w max/80w rms
sub 1000w max/250w rms?

why would i need more than 4 channel?
1 channel - front speakers
1 channel - 6x9s
2 channels bridged - sub

= 4 channels???

im currently looking at a sub atm on ebay, its " 400W Max / 2 x 100W RMS "2 channel amp. just wondering if it would be any good for my sub with the 200w rms bridged, but thats still 50w rms short of the sub's rms or would it not matter cheers

You need 2 channels for the front speakers, one left and one right, and 2 channels for the 6x9's one left and one right .....

ok ok
umm my sub is 1000w, rms 250w

would a amp that gives out 4x100w rms at 4ohm / 2x225w rms mono be good enough for the sub even though it is 25w rms less???

amp details .." Type: 4/3/2 Channel. Class: AB. 4 Ohm Stereo: 4 x 100W RMS. 2 Ohm Stereo: 4 x 115W RMS. 4 Ohm Mono: 2 x 225 RMS. "
