Got my awards ceremony with work on the 28th

Black tie


I cba with the jacket etc..

I'm gonna go smart white shirt with black tie and trousers with shox

Black tie doesn't mean black tie - it means DJ with bow tie.

And shirts with different collars look ridiculous and should stay in the early 2000s where they belong

that's not Black tie though

In fairness I wear a black dinner shirt, black bow tie and red waistcoat, normally not bothering with the jacket itself; oh and normally take the bow tie off within 5mins a la this, which is a couple of years ago with - I don't have that hair anymore which as someone on here put, makes me look slightly downs!!!

Yeah looks pretty cool, Im blonde and 6'2 I couldn't pull a red waist coat off.. no worries I had identical hair but fair lol

80s and revived in the 00s by gimps in nightclubs - only difference was they stuck the collar up!!

As Rich said, a 'Black Tie' event is a DJ jobby. Rent one out for the night from your local tailor/suit shop, it won't cost much. Traditionally you wear a bow tie but you can get away with a black tie if you want.
