Just get your car MSA log booked, then you can have a noisy exhaust when ever you like.

If you have sorted the idle now your car shouldnt be too much of a issue imo, its loud but no louder than lots of cars i know.

Not heard anything out our place, it's down to the tester I think though as as far as I'm aware they have always turned them away if they're far too loud so not much has changed tbh

With the noise, it might sound noisey at tick over but goes quiter at greater reves.

Plus with out a db meter how does he measure the whole setup compared to OE db.

I bet he'll fail you on headlight beam or something equally unprovable. Then charge you for a re-test.

Nope, he'll fail it on the fact the brake pedal stays on the floor when you release it...

10 day free re-test is good, guy up here does it only claims the re-test is free then tries to charge you. He's a dodgy bastard, my dad took my nana's motor down - he failed it on h/light beam, my dad took it away, said he fixed it and took it back down without actually touching it. Passed upon re-test when the guy realised my dad wouldn't give him the £15 he wanted to adjust them. Needless to say he gets a good old body swerve whenever an MOT is needed.

It would be impossible to have a blanket sound level for all cars.. Also it would depend on the temperature of the exhaust, the accoustics of the workshop all sorts.

The cars still have to pass EU standards in noise level but there are a few loop holes regarding engine temperature and max revs etc. Most of them have flaps in the exhaust that open to by-pass the silencers at X RPM.
