whip the disc off, get a big hammer and give the stud a sharp hefty thump. That should loosen it. You'll need to turn the hub to the small groove to get the stud out (not sure if thats the case with the car your using)
when all out, clean the holes, and then fit the studs, tightenting them up to pull them in - make sure they are all the way in!

thanks AK, what size are the norm for studs?
its an mx5 btw, going to see if i can get some about 20mm longer (and just use open ended wheel nuts)

do you actually need longer studs then?
No idea on normal size, presume its different for all/most cars
25-35mm perhaps, M12 x 1.25
