hold up the backing plate, mark up the holes, drill the holes, bolt it on, bolt the spoiler on with some glue on the corners.
either that or glue the lot on, wiggle it striaght and tape it up/put some heavy bits on the top to stop it moving as it dries

Spoiler boot comes with captive threads to fasten the backing panel on.
Find a pic of that mounted and take it from there. It should only really sit in one position.

I ideally want to bolt it on but it sounds like a pain in the ass as I dont know where to put the backing plate to drill the holes although I'm probably just being thick! Thanks for the advice

On my old one I put the backing plate up to the car, marked where the holes were, drilled, riveted the plate on, marked where the 4 screws in the corners went and drilled them.
You need to be careful when riveting the backing plate, do it slowly otherwise you'll snap the plate When marking the 4 holes for the screws built into the spoiler, do it one at a time. I did them all at the same time then it didn't fit so had to re-do 3 of the holes
Tiger seal is a good idea too, as the spoilers also have double sided tape stuff on, so it can't really hurt. I had no choice as I snapped one of the screws off Be careful with those too It's very easy to over-tighten them, as I found out
Hope I didn't ramble too much
