Rifled barrel on the pistol sets the round spinning and as it's hot it melts the ice it touches which acts as a lubricant and allows it to spin quickly. Not so amazing but fun to watch.

I understand the physics but I'm just curious as to why he was shooting at the ice he was standing on in the first place
