Literally take off the heatsink and fan, unclip the metal bar on one side (depending on processor) and lift off. You might want to invest in some anti-static gear to stop you fouling the electronics up. What processor are you going from and whats the new one?

Ive not bought it yet - im only running 6**mhz at the minute - wouldnt mind at least 1400+ P3

You need to find out what cpu's your motherboard will support before you buy one.

going from 600mhz to 1400+ you may need to change motherboard too

Well - ill get the motherboard and processor at the same time so they match up. I get cheap parts, my mate works for IBM

Make sure you can use your old stuff too like sound card, graphics card and RAM in new motherboard.

U will definatly need to change the motherboard u mite need sum heatsink paste as well
