The boot has been split on the van since I got it, grease everywhere ect
lately Ive noticed a whiring type noise from that side and a rumble over bumpy ground and if I hit the accelerator quickly to kangaroo slightly it knocks
are these symptoms of CV joint fucked? I have a replacement here, brand new £40 just thought Id ask out of interest before I take it to my mate on sunday

I had that with the corsa where it knocked when I jumped it. Ended up being the hub nut loose.
If you can, jack up the van and look under it. Stick it in gear and roatate the wheel while looking at the hub and driveshaft - if there's a lot of movement in the wheel before the shaft starts turning then there's your problem.
Rumbling over uneven ground sounds like bottom ball joint type thing - not sure what the transits have in that case though.

Whiring sounds like a wheel bearing on its way out and knocking when you snap the go pedal sounds like either a CV or a bottom ball joint.
Although if the boots been split more likely the CV and you may aswell do it anyway and go from there if you have the part.
