It's an x14, only mods are p&p'd head dbilas inlet and 4 branch decat exhaust. Running rich for some reason chuckes out a bit of smoke lately if i put my foot down. Any help would be great

cant really tell mate when im driving, people have said it smells rich, the cars only done 5000 since rebuild including rings and valve seals

An air leak could make it over fuel, faulty O2 sensor, and a De-cat can make it smell like that.

What colour are your spark plugs?

will check for an air leak tomorrow its got a brand new lambda sensor and new plugs, is there anything i could do to stop the smell apart from put the cat back in??

If it's got no cat, it will be like a older car which always smell a bit of petrol. Have a look at your plugs, if they look black then you've got a problem. But otherwise it sholud be fine.

They will kick a bit of smoke out anyway at high revs.

Will definately check plugs tomorrow, what could be the problem if they as black. Thanks for the help guys

Black plugs show it's running rich.

took plugs out today they were black! there were no obvious air leaks, where do i go from here? Would an adjustable fuel reg make a difference to try an lean it off??

coolant temp sensor, it's on the thermostat
