I much prefer Mondeo's to Vectra's, imo better to drive. I do like the Vectra GSI though.
Just a suggestion though!
The 2.6s had the same 192bhp as the 2.5 btw.

The thing is you guys are talking about outright power...Your missing the point that Scoobys grip better than anything else mentioned! Therefore they are 'Quicker' in the real world. I must admit thought my old 182 would have given the UK Scooby i've not long sold a good fight on twisty roads. The thing is 90% of Scooby are not standard so even with minor tweaks they are very quick cars for fuck all money. Wether you 'Like' them or not is erelevent to this argument. Pound for Pound you can't beat them!
Preludes FFS get a grip.

Agreed but unless you really know how to drive you'll only ever drive it slower than it can go or you'll crash it

I agree with this. I think the mr2 and scooby are the most powerful cars for that price but having driven both i know which car id feel more comfortable driving at speed

As long as you're not one of these people that consider a 2.0 corsa slow.... I've been surprised by the 2.2 VTEC one of these before in the XE, thing was pretty much keeping up with me.

Prelude Motegi/Type SH are under-rated cars. Will do 0-60 in 6.5s so i would class that as quick tbh.
I will still throw in Pulsars to the arguement too.220bhp standard, simple 4wd system with an aggressive launch that is in a league of its own in a lightweight car.Like Scoobys though, most arent standard.

2.2 Vtec. They are the 5th Gen shape.Very sleek cars.Just shy of 200bhp.Even the later Vti with the Redtop H22 had just under 200bhp.
Type S and SiR had just shy of 220bhp.

I much prefer them myself, lowered on a nice set of wheels and they look lovely. The one I'm talking about having a go against had glitter paint and chromes, proves you don't need to look good to go fast

That black 1 above is a 4th gen.The 2.2 in them was the 185bhp H22.
The 5th Gen with the 200bhp H22 are quicker.
