I have to get a gas pipe capped off under a cupboard, I will be putting a hatch where the cap will be for future testing in case of gas leaks.
I mate who is qualified will be capping the pipe off but I need to get the compression fitting for it and I can't get him on his phone to ask if water and gas fittings are different?
I looked in B&Q and couldn't find a cap in the gas section.

a compression blank is suitable for water or gas, it can be used on gas as long as it is permanantly accessible
I personaly would put a soldered one on, its not much more hassel for him if he is a plumber
