Those of you who do free weights, how did you learn what to do? I don't want to look like a tit or hurt myself
I'm a bit restricted at the moment as I can't really do anything with my shoulders, but I'm bored as fook with cardio...

I learned most of what I know from the net tbh. There are loads of forums / videos that show you how to perform exercises properly.
If you're not confident then ask someone who looks like they know what they're doing to tell you if you're doing things correctly.

Read/watched a lot then got someone to show me.
I'd recommend getting someone that knows what they're doing over watching videos on the internet!

Best idea, as they can make sure you are getting the technique right, which is the most important thing.

From going with friends initially. Then picked things up along the way.
I'm practically a PT like everyone else on here now

Considering you can do a PT course online these days you probably know more than a PT

best way?
go and ask someone in the gym, dont be scared, they will help you.
plenty of times i have been down, someone has watched my do a set, and theyve asked for help.
and net is good for watching how to get a technique spot on.

depends i suppose. i can tell the people who know what theyre on about, as they arent massive steroid heads, instead theyre just extremely toned.
i spoke to a guy who told me the importance of gettin rotor cuff muscles strong before trying lift heavy weight, he taught me a technique, i have stuck too it, suffered no injury, and have applied muscle evenly across chest back shoulder bi's tri's etc.

A gym that costs £10/month attracts a certain clientèle. I'm not talking to anyone there.
