What I've done to mine is taken the bottom bit off of the box...
The bit that sits over the arch is seperate to the bit that sits nearer the cambelt area.
I took the bottom bit off thats over the arch.
Really deep growl sounds lovely.
Made a little hole with a saw, big enough to fit a chisel in and then chisled the rest off, sometimes it just unclips but its tight lol
works for me

Decided to pop a few holes in it too (wasnt sure if i did enough holes or not but ah well -

Obviously you can drill different holes in it. But thats what i did.

i drilled about 8 or 10 holes in my 1.2 8v airbox, they are about an inch across, sounded nice with the 1.2, then did an engine swap for a 1.4 8v sri engine and had to cover up half of the holes as the induction noise was so loud lol

Smaller holes create a more raspier sound. Larger holes are generally preferred. Just make sure you don't drill any holes higher than where the air filter goes otherwise you will bypass it and hence you will get a load of crap in your engine!!! Here's a picture of how I drilled mine:

When I put my foot down it creates a nice subtle deep grumble
