Afternoon all

i got caught doing 34 in a 30 on 09/11/2010 on my lunch break. Had the initial letter through to confirm it was me which I did. But since then I have heard nothing back? Been pretty much 3/4 weeks since i posted the letter.

What do I do?

This may be of some help.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=575300

Once the NIP is served (Which you have recieved) the process has really no defined time limit in law as such.

Just out of interest, where (ie. what county) were you caught in?

In Northants, the speed awareness course was offered if the offence was between the speed limit +10% (Under 10% is not processed) and +10% +2.

I.e speedwareness course was offered to drivers doing 34/35 in a 30 limit, but that has now changed to 37.

Its going to go national at some point, so its highly likely (don't quote me however!) that you will be offered a speed awareness course at double the fine (£120) and no points on your licence.

Or it could be 3 points and £60.

The first letter is the actual NIP (NOTICE of intended prosicution) to identify the driver, so you don't pay vs the first letter, wait for further correspondence.

Doesn't matter if you have already had one, you can still have another as long as you meet the criteria (for speed within the parameters above)

Not saying its a given as, they can prosicute. But you never know!
If you respond to the NIP quickly they may take pity!

Not a problem buddy.

They send you a letter to confirm it was you? Can't you just say someone else was driving?

sure the criteria on speed awareness course is as long as in the past 3 years you havnt taken part in a speed awareness course

thus making you ineligible,
not positive, but remember reading it when i got caught

Depends on the local force.

In Northants, I am not aware of a time limit.

Although as stated, it could be different elsewhere.

Essex it was the course and £60. Then you weren't able to take another course for 3 years. Same time limit as points.
