I am thinking about buying an Alpine 7894Rb HU. I have heard that you have to wire the head unit directly to the battery, by-passing the original power wire. Is this True.

nah, u just gotta swap the ignition live and the permanent live around. they're irish on the corsa for some reason

Not really, its just a suggestion from alpine so as to get the best performance from the head unit, dont need to do it though.
