my dads car that he got was q plated.
but cus the guy worked in ireland and went to germany, so they knew he wasnt gonna blow them to shit, and wasnt in the IRA or summit.

If you get caught load of times with the same dodgy plate eg illegal character spacing etc, the police can confiscate the plate and give you a Q plate...so i've heard.

I'm pretty sure if it is a Q plate it is either a kit car or a complete write off hence it should never be returned to the roads

Q plates stand for Questionabull (or how ever u spell it), mainly year of shell, or when u can not find Vin numbers, they have to make new ones on a Q plate
