John is right

barbs are mechanical fuel injection.

Bodies are electronic fuel injection.

Carbs require a fuel regulator and a dizzy iirc

How are they set up, is it common for them to freeze, does this cause damage?

You add a pipe onto the exhaust manifold and direct it towards the carbs to stop them freezing up in the winter while driving, put a towel or something like that over them at night to keep the moisture and most of the chill off them, just remember to remove it in the morning.

Really depends what car you have to start with if it needs a different ecu.
eg nova with a dizzy and carb, just replace the carb with the twin 40's done.
If the car has injection and a dizzy you just replace the injection shit with the 40's.
If the car has injection and a coilpack you need a after market ecu for the ignition timing, webber sell a "winter" add on thing to stop icing.

ou set them up by putting an emissions tester up the exhaust and setting the air/fuel ratio screw to the optimum setting.
