Had a shunt with a crash barrier & need some work doing to the front chassis rail, slam panel, headlight panel, crash bar, bumper etc, now the problem ive got do i pay to get it repaired (waiting for quote to arrive) or do i swap most things to another shell.
The thing is i can get a real decent 1.6 sport corsa, the same colour with a blown engine for less than i think the repairs will be.
Then i would swap my engine box & running gear into the new car, does anyone know of any problems of fitting a 1.0 engine & running gear into a 1.6 shell.
Was thinking the engine loom & ECU will need swapping, also not sure if the new shell has ABS fitted & if it could be adapted to the 1.0 hubs or just use the 1.6 hubs or just disconnected.
I want to keep my 1.0 engine for now for insurance & running costs & can swap all the bits myself, just want to do it the most economical way. Any advice welcome.

Cheers Nick.

Converting a 1.6 sport to a 1.0 is more hassle than its worth, Also insurance will be more than a standard 1.6!

Find another cheap 1.0.

Thanks for the replies, another 1.0 is certainly the easiest way. The more i think about it the more problems i find, electrics, hubs & brakes, fuel lines etc.
Will wait & see what the repair bill is first. It was just tempting seeing as the 1.6 car was in really good condition & a good price.
