Well I'm starting to look, Stu's Vectra GSi is top of my list but insurance costs might curtail that as I don't want to be paying millions.

Brother has a Mk4 Sri hatch with the 2.2 16v with over 140k on the clock. On paper they are under-powered,but on the road where it matters it pulls hard all the way right from the off.Dosnt need revved high to go anywhere which makes it pretty good on fuel too.Certainly isnt as bad an engine as folk make out power wise.

Hatches don't look as special as the Coupe unless you get a really late one with the Pro Drive kit.

My dad had a 1.8, it was horribly slow, shit on fuel and had a proper nasty plastics interior. It was the convertible, not sure how much difference there is.

Bought the mrs an 02 plate 1.8 coupe in mirage grey with 71k on it for £1200, didn't have the right wheels on it, a set of turbo wheels, spoiler and irmscher grill later its a great car for the £. It is pish on fuel for a slow 1.8 though.

My 1.8 Cab isn't the slowest car in the World tbh. It could do with more grunt, but it'll do. Not great on fuel though. Does about 30mpg round town at best!

Just gota sort out insurance now as current insurers wont let me change my policy as its got just over a month to run.
ahh well, good job i didnt use my ncb on the policy so will have 4, bit annoying as will have 5 in a month and half but only about £50 in difference between 4 and 5 years ncb bonus.
