Hi, anyone got one? When does it change over? It's for entirely selfish reasons I'm planning the summer holiday in august and the extra 500 interest free overdraft would come in handy for spending money
I know it's most likely they'll only apply the overdraft when term actually starts, but I just wanted to double check it doesn't change once they've got paperwork in

Are you currently on a course? Just go into a brand and open an account and they will give you an overdraft.

I don't start my degree until September, only doing ND at the minute and that doesn't qualify for the student account apparantly

I have one with Natwest, been with them for a couple years as my main bank, went in and just asked for an account and they gave me the option of converting or openin an additional one.
£500 first term, £1000 second and £1500 by the end of the year I think is what I could apply for.
Once you've got a letter confirming your university go in and say you want to open a student account now to save the hassle later on

On phone so can't edit, i did somethin similar with my money, didn't bother putting any back for a good couple month (so bank acc wasn't used at all) and I got a letter saying the T&C of the interest free overdraft were that the account was to be used as a regular account. Also said if I didn't start using it they would close the account and I'd have to pay all the money back straight away.
I just transferred a bit of money in and started paying for stuff using that account.
Not heard from them since.

You're fucked then unless you have a letter stating you have a place in a uni course.
If youre clever and do it within minutes of each other (like me) you can open 2 student accounts. I had over 4k of interest free overdraft available for the majority of my uni days

July is the time when your bank account turns into a student or graduate account, if you bank with Natwest.

Yes thats what I mean, but you are only allowed 1 student savings account opened with your matric card. So need to be quick to open the second one before the first one is all fully registered etc.
