If the fuel pump wasn't working surely it wouldn't start after a few attempts and the fuel in the rail being burnt off.

You havent mate BUT if you are not able to do basic fault finding then you should not be doing the conversion.
Basic fault finding 101 -
what is causing the engine to stop? fuel or spark?
have you got a spark all the time even after when the engine stops?
is there fuel all the time at the rail even after when the engine stops?
have your wired the engine right?
Do you know how to work a volt meter?
Will the engine fire right up after it dies?
Come on mate these are BASIC checks, what more you want me to say?
To come on here and say "my XE starts and then die's" how are we able to help?
Look at it this way i start a post "my car will not start any idea" there are a million reasons BUT without giving BASIC info after doing check then noone can help, and to say you are doing the XE conversion yourself then what more do you want us to say than.......

I learn by doing, like most people on here. I attempt them without knowing EXACTLY what to do. I have never worked in a garage, however I have owned this corsa for two years, and am competent inteior and panel wise. I am learnign about engines. I don't claim to be an expert, just thought as I'm stuck Id ask for help.
