Now I personally have not used the Yellow Pages book/yell.com etc. to find out anything as I've got Google for that.
Do any of you lot regularly use anything provided by the Yellow Pages? Be it the book, 118 247, the yell.com website or on your mobile phone?
Ta.

Nope, I use google as well.
It occasionally links to yell.com, so I guess I use it through that, but I dont go directly through yell

Someone phoned me up from there the other day trying to sell me about £1k worth of advertising which has been discounted for me apparently; I'm guessing no-one bothers with them much these days?

I spent £600 with them getting my business into the book with a decent advert. Book came, I wasn't in it. Just listed in the back as text. Phoned them and they said the deadline was missed so going in next year. Asked for a refund and they could only give a credit note type thing.
Absolute fucking joke. I seriously hate them.

Nope, I always use Google, and now quite often Google Places.
I have a free listing on Yell.com for RD, which gets me a couple of hits a month, but I've never had somebody say they found me via that!

I don't understand how businesses like this are still running. Especially the whole 118 thing...

i tend to use it when i need new tyres
it lists all the local tyre fitters easily and without fuss. i always find the internet/Google a pain to use when "ringing around" as it just doesnt offer the same accessablity, click after click to find a number rather than print clearly on the page next to others
edit: i have used it also for insurance, having all the numbers to hand at the turn of the page has been much easier than having to click through pages on the net, although now there are comparison sites this use has disappeared.
but in short, for having all the numbers relevant available on one page/turn of a page was/is easier than having to click through the internet!

Have noticed the yellow pages getting thinner over the last few years.
Used for the first time in years the other day looking for an auto electrician.
