I know the obvious i.e the turbo , pistons, cams, and the inlet
But say i wanted to do a cheap turbo con, useing an xe block, and a spacer plate,
would you say use a let loom ??
and what else is diff,
Also i know that your all gna say buy a let, but iam asking the question first lol

it would proberly be cheaper just to buy the c20let engine.
By the time you mess about making things fit ect. Buy a turbo. Loom ect.

i have done a turbo con like this before on me x16xe and it worked well on a low boost, so as the let parts are easy to get, and i dont have a massive amount to fork out on a let for say £1000 upwards, i thought i may be in luck lol

if you buy a good xe engine complete.
Buy the time you buy the turbo and all the other parts needed. Its going to be around £600-700, then you've still got an engine running low boost.
For the extra £300'ish you can go out and buy a c20let and not worry about running boost and know the engine will be reliable.

wasnt stolen when i owned it mate, i sold it to a lad from rhyl about 4months ago

turbo gav was running an xe with a 2mm cometic gasket,
On let management and I'm sure it went over the 200bhp mark,

Guy called Neil from up north has a yellow Mk2 Astra XE converted to turbo.Has worked and went well for years.Think its been in TV.
Apparantly as long as the fuelling is set up properly it will be a safe reliable conversion.

Nic's corsa is a turbo'd XE and it's running nearly 500bhp! As for the cost of reliably allowing decent power in comparison to just saving for a LET is the issue.
If you don't have the money up front for a let then turbo the XE as i asume you will have money to buy things to convert as and when. Kinda like finance, will cost you more in the long term for not paying up front!

His isnt really in the same league as what the OP wants.Nic's is an XE block which is the same as a bare LET block.Well minus oil feeds.But everything else has been changed.

I just said it more for the sake of it mate. I'm quite aware Nic's is not just a case of changing loom, bolt on turbo and boost on.

Drill and tap block for oil return or you can feed it back to highest point in the sump.

The oil feed is already there in the back of the block. Its the return that needs drilled out and tapped.
