theres usually a rubber seat for the spring to sit onto rather than being sat on bare metal

yes as bobber says the rubber spring cup is enough, if it bothers you though just wind the adjuster all the way down

also another wee thing, when i am using the adjusters to lower the ride height, the springs turning with the adjuster obviously because the weight of the car is on the spring etc, is it still ok to wind it down while the springs on the adjuster?

They aren't coilovers. They are adjustable spring seats.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
