I've got a 2.2 exactly the same as the one you linked.

Nice to drive. Mine has been lowered a little. It's not that great on fuel but has nice enough power and is a nice every day car. Insurance isn't overlly cheap on it bit not to bad.

I only paid £2000 for my 52 plate but has done a few more miles.

I have the 2.2 but in the hatchback.Nice smooth engine, revs nice.Under-powered on paper but goes well enough on the road.I thought for a 2.2 it was decent enough on fuel.Dont know if the coupe is heavier mind you.

Gearbox issue but could be a cheap fix as its only an F17cr.
However it does sound more like a CV joint issue.

my bro has the 1.8 edition 100, he bought it when it was 6months old and still has it, must be nearing 75,000 miles now.

i think the only things that have gone wrong are the exhaust needing replacing last year and some small issues with brakes or roll bar bushes.

i wouldn't call it good performance but its not slow

Something like that yeah.

After about 3 replies I decided against the idea and I said that in the thread, but people kept giving me advice, then chrisbitch told me to delete the thread so I did.

With the 2.2 watch that the timing chain has been changed. My dad had the z22se in his vectra and the chain went at 40k. After reading up on the z22se forum it seems it was due to a common fault with the jet that lubricates the chain. I think theres a mod to sort it though

I think the Astra is a far nicer option.

Can't believe that after nearly 9 years of being on this site. I might actually like and buy a vauxhall

Oil squirter on the pre 2002 iirc had a brass insert which got clogged up and ran the chain dry causing it to stretch and snap.Vauxhall got aware of the problem and removed it on the later Z22SE.

Mines on 103k on the original chain and my brothers is on 149k on the original chain.Poor maintenance and shitty oil is the main cause.Usually the chain starts to rattle before it goes, but in some cases it has just snapped.

Safe to say im always listening out for mine.

I got one, the 1.8, not THAT bad on petrol but I drive very economically so maybe thats why.

Not had a problem with mine except when I bought it temperature never used to go up so changed thermostat and was fine.

Just happens to be for sale too.
