I have got some new mirror covers for my LCR and I want to wrap them in a carbon 'fibre' vinyl. I have got some self adhesive wrap that looks great as the real thing would cost too much. I had a quick go but was unsuccessful and it creased like shite. Has anyone got some tips/ ideas to getting a good finish?

Heatgun, apply it wet aswell, although that wont really help on such a small piece.

Can't you get the mirror made in carbon fibre anywhere?

They did them on some German site for a short while but they're very hard to find.

From what I gather, wing mirrors aren't the easiest thing to do - especially if you're new to it.
I'm sure RS6 on here has carbon caps which weren't silly money?

Ah ok, wasn't aware there was a difference tbh!
Just keep at it with the wrapping - or find somebody who is good at it who'll do it for a few beer tokens maybe?

Yeh I know a lad who has got the proper carbon fibre sheet but I'd need to buy resin's and the shite you need to do it. Plus he'd take a while to do it as he's very busy. I'd rather try myself

thegsi buy a carbon skinning kit from Carbonmods and give it a go yourself, it has everything you require to skin your mirrors yourself; just need time and patience

Yeh I have seen those but I think the £50 kit only includes like 1x 300mm x 300mm sheet doesnt it?

No no, I meant find somebody who is good at wrapping stuff in vinyl and get them to do it for you for cheap, not make proper carbon ones!

0.3m2; 300mm x 1000mm; should be more than enough for 2 mirrors

I wrapped my Fabia VRS chrome grill surround a month or so ago with 3M stuff. It's easy enough to do, but it takes a little patience and ideally someone to hold the heater for you so you can pull the wrap nice and tight

Ive done my wing mirrors, they were harder than interior stuff believe it or not, took a little while to get right but it is possible to do it yourself successfully
