Hi guys, This is my car.

N reg, Flame Red corsa 5 door. 1.4

Bought it last year totally standard with the intentions of using it as a runabout over the winter and then scrapping it / selling it cheaply after that.

When i got it.. used it for a couple of weeks, gave it a full service, all filters, new petrol tank etc. etc. i realised that the shell was VERY clean... Then i started to put some bits i had leftover from my nova on it.. Bought some new parts and finally ended up being my project car.

I've nearly finished building the car to road rally spec.

Basic Spec now is..
Rear Weld in and boxed, Safety Device hoop with twin diagonal 'X' and harness bars,
F13 Close Ratio 'box, 4.2 CWP, QUAIFE differential.
Janspeed 4 branch manifold and full system.
Weld-in seat rails with two new FG/GRP bucket seats.
3" sabelt 5 point harnessess.
Front and rear uprated suspension, Standard height at front and -30mm rear
Astra GTE wheels, Yokohama A035 tyres.

I have left:

Sump Guard
Tank Guard
Spots
Small stuff like interior light and horn buttons.

Maybe if it goes well, will get perspex windows fitted and put my brand new rebuilt 1400 16v engine in it.

I've finished one event with it running as a course opening car on a road rally. Hell of a laugh!

Here is how the car stands at the moment...

All comments and Ideas are welcome.

Thanks, Dion!

Any ideas on how to fit my Spotlamp Brackets? I need them to be as solid as possible so there is minimal use for the steady bars. I was thinking of welding an upper box section from the slam panel down to the crossmember and then two flat bars coming out?

Any help/images appreciated.

Looks like the X14SZ to me. Not 100% sure though.

How come you've left the rear bench in? Surely you'd be better off getting rid of that to save some weight?

Probably something to do with weight distribution. Nice to see another 5 door

I've had to leave the rear seats in as the MSA blue book states that all 'major pieces of interior trim must be in place' for road rallying.

I must have them inplace to pass the scruitineering. They're only foloded because they won't go up because of the roll cage.

I've been busy with the car over the weekend... Tidying it up after the rally and fitting the spotlamp brackets.
The spots brackets were done using a 10mm thick flat bar from the bottom crossmember upto the slam panel.. and then two peices coming outwards from them. They're very solid. They held my weight on them, and i'm around 18st, so shouldn't be a problem for around 3kg of spots i'd say!

Also given the car a full Machine polish (can't really see the shine in these photos but it's wow..)

Re-painted the rear of the inside of the car in a matte black aswell, I think it looks a lot better and fresher.

I've also got a new rear strut brace... anybody know how to fit these? as i can't get it there and then hold the spanner there as it's got a collar coming upwards. I can't use a socket as I need to hold the top of the shocker to counter-turn it.? :s

Thanks,

Dion!
