anything is possible. Theres upgraded parts available for ever part of the engine. Just cosworth dont do ALL the parts. you need to look at other tuning companies aswel.

Alot of people on here dont seem to undersrand that cosworth manufacture parts for all sorts just not ford
The original question he is asking was if anyone knows if cosworth manufacture after market parts for the said engine
Imho you would be better charging the 1600 gsi engine, iv always wanted too do that.

I wouldn't go buying Cosworth parts just so you can say it has Cosworth parts.

What's with all the tuned 1.6 haters? As a person that's had no experience with either an XE or a tuned 1.6, what's the problem? People have been debating the pros and cons of those 2 engines ever since the C16 came out and they've been debating because some people prefer the tuned 1.6. Yes they cost more but if it's what you prefer and if money isn't too much of a factor as the OP has already said it isn't then surely it's upto him. If he's had XEs before what's wrong with him having a change?
I notice Linch posted, who has actually had a tuned 1.6 and didn't even approach the subject of an XE, maybe he has reasons for that
As said above though, I wouldn't be buying Cosworth bits just for pub ammo. Judging by that badge, you'll be paying through the nose and getting the same quality that's cheaper elsewhere but again, that's your decision.

Bout wrong with a tuned 1.6 but I think the point people are making is tha he's not doing it for the fact the engine is lighter and will potentially create a far better drivers car, he's doing it for the modders favourite adage "it's different"
Different for the sake of different is lame. The 1.6 is a good option, but if you arnet interested in said gains then why blow extra money on something that your not fussed about. Nothing wrong with the idea, just your motivation.

What exactly is he going to do? Inlet, cams, exhaust?

big valve p&p'd head would be near 1k
inlet-200'ish
cams 400'ish
exhaust manifold 200'ish
exhaust system 300'ish
then you've got mapping the ecu ect
i'd say you were looking at 2.5-3k

i paid £100 for my head porting with larger valves, also lapped in correctly on each valve, also £100 for my block re-boring for larger pistons.
you can port and polish your inlet and exhaust ports yourself with some time and a dremel.

for 200horse i'd suspect ITB's, High compression pocketed pistons, steel rods, Stand alone management as well as all of the above
then all of the fitting/mapping and bits n pieces. Such as it would be wise to fit an oil cooler etc...
6k isnt a bad estimate when you consider the price of pistons/rods are near 1k, management fitted is nearly 1k and the ITB's wont come cheap either...
