What have people done as I'm after a way of doing it whilst trying not to damage the paint underneath.

We used a heatgun and scraper to get most of it up, probably the easiest way and didn't do much damage with that, it's when you're left with all the little bits that the damage came in with mine, mainly just because it becomes monotonous so you end up being a bit lackadaisical about it because you just want it gone.

I just carefully chipped mine off with a screwdriver/scraper and a soft-faced mallet
If you get a good enough run with the tool, you can lift off large portions of it, keeping any potential damage to a minimum...

Diesel melts it then it kind of scoops off and can be cleaned up. Its time comsuming but wouldnt damage it but tbh you need to paint under where its been anyway so I'd just go with the heat gun and scraper then paint it all.

I did this last summer on a warm day.. No heat gun just slow and steady with the scraper then autoglym tar remover cleaned it up a treat. Looks mint and no need for a respray

I tapped mine with a little hammer and it cracked off in big pieces, some bits needed scraping off though
