I've seen compaines that offer cheaper insurance for people with bans etc. I've got an Sp30 with no points but 1 month ban, and it seems to be doubling any quotes I get.
Do these specialist insurers give a decent discount? Has anyone used any? Cheers

Don't think you will get a better price from a 'specialist ' at the end of the day they use that term as they will more than likely quote than anything else. I see it as a marketing termmore than likley as they have provided x y z of convicted drivers with quotes. Your issue as with any company is as have proven in the eyes of the insurance your a higher risk

Through hic, used them for 4 years now, great for my corsa, but stupidly expensive for any of the standard cars ive had over the years.

Ah right OK, I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet, or wait another year. How long do you have to declare the convictions for, 5 years?

Lol you jammy bastard, the judge said because it was double, the least he could give me was 35 day ban. To this day I still dont beleive I was doing 80 but you can't really argue when you in that position. If I lost my license for a year or so I would have been fucked for work.
Edit: Who do you insure the Impreza with?

OK mate nice one, I'll give them a go. It's looking almost impossible to insure anything remotely interesting, without paying through the teeth.

HIC seem to be praised a lot on the forums, but I have heard them mentioned in person!

Just tried HIC and they quoted £2300 for 12 months, and I must say they have been the most helpful company so far. Really knew his stuff.
