They called it a telegraphic transfer, is that CHAPS?
Yes.
TTs also refer to international transfers, but in your case it's just a posh way of saying a CHAPS payment.

Have to disagree, a TT envolves international banking, chaps can only be performed with both remitter and beneficiary having an account within the same country.

I wasn't there but it was called a telegraphic transfer.
However, on my internet banking it does show as international.
I thought you were talking about something else originally Pete that's why I hadn't paid attention to that bit.

But the banking industry refer to CHAPS and Telegraphic Transfers as the same thing.
Well ours does anyway

Chaps is a same day transfer, i have only ever done TT's that have taken 2/3 days to arrive. I may be wrong but ive never heard a tt be called a chaps or vice versa. The chaps system at my work has space for sort code and acc number only where as the telegraphic transfer system has space for iban,swift/bic, bsb and beneficiary bank address.

Why doesnt everybody just call their bank and ask to settle it, i can say for certain that any bank under Lloyds banking group will back up my theory as i have worked for the group for 5 years and send both chaps and tt on a daily basis.
