I went on earlier and there were not a lot of people online at all. I kept ending up in games on Battlefield BC2 with 2 people on each team. Used to be heaving with people.

I cant be bothered to set mine back up again as i cannot change my password due to my e-mail address now being invalid 
Waste of time as it means all my online stats and gameplay is basically lost

when trying to sign in on the PSN it states a new password is needed and will be sent to the email addy used to set up the online profile, trouble is i havent used my email for sometime now and is dead/deleted by hotmail

You can just do it there and then Danny, I didn't have to do anything with my email  turned on the PS3 went to login and it prompted me to change the PW there, so I did.

If it's a Hotmail then you should be able to put your login details in then you can re-activate the account.
