Check that the Inlet Manifold Runner Control is working.Commom problem on them.Heat gets into it and causes it to play up.

Should feel it opening up the extra valves at about 3500-4000 rpm.You will know if its not working as the car will feel flat and gutless.

Loved mine.

Front arch being higher than the rear always bugged me though, couldn't ever get it to look "right" when lowering it.

I fitted an air filter, decxat and blue flame exhaust system. Went better but my god was it thirsty!!

Rust is very common now, to be honest you will pay a little more but i'd look at ST200's.

If you want a bit newer you could get a MK3 Zetec S V6, basically the MK3 version of an ST24.

Aslong as you look after the car, regular services etc doubt you should see any problems. Check there is no ticking from the heads, water pump and rust especially on rear arches.
