Hi guys, I know theres a few mechanics on here, well im 19 and I'm wanting to start an apprenticeship in mechanics. Im with a college to start with in September, also with a few companies that do the training for apprenticeships, so i can start at any time really. Iv'e been trying to find a gargage for a placement, seems quite hard these days.

Anyway today I called a garage and he seemed quite keen to get me in as soon as possible, got a interview there on Monday, they are a busy garage, so im just wondering if anyone has had a similair interview? And what I should say/do to make sure they stay interested. Im not a complete novice with mechanics, got a bit of knowledge, whats the best way to put this across without trying to sound like i think im awsome

Thanks for any help

In my 4th year of my apprenticeship with Arnold Clark... youve just got to show that your interested in gaining new skills and keen to learn aswell as work. Don't ask about pay too much.. I can tell you, it'll be shite until your 21. Be genuine with your interviewer, don't force answers and don't be afraid to ask questions ( it shows your keen) . When the interwiew is over, ask for a look round the workshop

Long stand
Ask how they coped in the recession, if it effected them (say it casually, makes you seem interested in the business sides aswell)
Say you already have experience!
