Has anyone seen this?

quote:
In 1986, the BBC (in partnership with Acorn, Phillips and Logica) released a digital Domesday book to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the original Domesday book. It created a snapshot of what life was like in the mid-80s in the United Kingdom. The setup used a specially-adapted BBC Master computer (the successor to the more well-known BBC Micro, both produced by Acorn) and a Laserdisc player, a setup known as the Master AIV, or the Domesday system. It was feared that the data would be lost due to digital obsolescence in that there were very few Laserdisc players around and even fewer that could read the discs.

There's an article saying my area only had 3 petrol stations even though 80% owned a car, there is now 121 within 10 miles. It also said only 28% use the M1 on a daily basis.

FPMSL

"Traffic has become an increasing
problem in the past few years. With the
increased numbers of people moving
into the ever increasing number of
houses,the road systems rapidly proved
inadequate.
Naturally the greatest problem was
the sheer volume of cars wishing to
leave the Calcot and Tilehurst areas
to get onto the M4 motorway to travel
either East towards London,or to the
West.Also large numbers wishing to
travel into Reading to offices,shops
firms and factories.
The main centres of traffic
congestion were at junctions with the
A4 Bath Rd.Large roundabouts have now
been built and these have contributed
much to the improving situation.
However,the new 'mini-roundabouts'
still have to prove their worth."

Remove those roundabouts now and put traffic lights in and have totally fucked it all up.

The name of fords has been linked
with Dagenham since the company
recognized the potential of the large
marshy site on the River Thames 60
years ago.
The management have streamlined
production to increase efficiency. Now
only the Fiesta and Sierra cars are
made at the factory which claims to
have the most modern production line
in Europe. there are 120 robots and
new automatic control systemsplus a
vast conveyer and transfer network.
Originally,the workforce came from
the Becontree estate, but now many
travel by road and rail. A ferry links
Dagenham with the Dagenham jetty.
Unfortunately, automation has
resulted in a reduction in the number
of employees.

120 robots there's probably more than that just one one line now.
